Message from our Pastor, Dr. Bill Bryant: Before being received into a new Presbytery, you are required to be examined before the Church court. In my home Presbytery of Middle Tennessee, one of the pastors always asks candidates seeking admission, "Do you love Jesus?" The question may sound superfluous. "Certainly, I love Jesus." But each time it is asked it requires a response. As I begin a new interim I affirm my love for the following reasons: I love the quiet soul who conquered human fear in Gethsemane and gained the power to conquer the God forsakenness of Calvary. I love the risen Lord who walked unknown on the way to Emmaus and who prepared a meal for his tired fisherman friends by the sea of Galilee. I love the forgiving Christ who restored the denying of peter and took him back into the fold. I love the victorious King who sits at the right hand of God and extends to each of us the inviation to come and share his glory. |
